Recipe - How To Make Garlic-Ginger Paste

Garlic and ginger are used in cooking for their strong flavours and they are also used for their therapeutic effects. For example, garlic is considered to be an antibiotic. It strengthens the immune systems and helps to prevent colds and germs. Ginger is known to relieve muscles aches and prevent cramps.

The garlic ginger paste is a key ingredient in making the Singapore chicken rice. It is used as a dipping sauce and it is also used to make the rice fragrant. The paste is also a key ingredient in many other recipes, like curries.

To make the garlic and ginger paste, I use one portion of garlic to one portion of ginger. Somehow the 1 to 1 ratio works well. The ginger helps to balance the sharp taste of the raw garlic.

Peel the garlic and for the ginger, wash and cut into smaller pieces. Put them into a blender and blend. A bit of water may be needed to help in blending.

Here is a 1 minute video showing how to make this garlic ginger paste.
